I really appreciated the Veteran's Memorial and I thought it is doing a great job recognizing our local veteran's.  The memorial was under construction or repair when I was there so the stone benches are stacked close together, some of the memorial paver-stones have not been installed and there were areas that were taped off.  The bricks on the ground had the names of many veterans who had served.

Bossier City Police and Fire Memorial

The September 11th Memorial and Police and Fire memorials are located in the Liberty Garden between the front entrances of the police and fire stations facing Beckett Street.
It has been difficult to find public art in Bossier City, but I was relieved to find the monuments respecting our veterans, police, fire, and patriots.

Is a monument art?  Words carved into stone?  Sometimes they are no more aesthetically pleasing than a three dimension word document with clipart.  However, it takes skill, imagination, and provokes thought and often an emotional response, so yes, I think it is art.
